THE NUMBER of coronavirus cases is above the national average in all parts of Basingstoke apart from one.
Kempshott is the only area of the town that has a rolling rate, the number of new cases per 100,000 of the population, that is below the England average.
And despite lockdown restrictions, the virus is still spreading fast in two parts of the town, putting them among the worst category.
Viables and Basingstoke Central, Black Dam & Eastrop have rolling rates higher than 800.
Viables, which includes much of Cranbourne, southern Brighton Hill and the industrial estates, has a rolling rate of 1,123.5, and has seen 88 new cases in the seven days to January 11 - the most recent data available.
The other areas in the town with rolling rates above the national average are: Kings Furlong; Houndmills & Oakridge; Brighton Hill; Hatch Warren; Winklebury & Rooksdown; South Ham & West Ham; Popley; East Oakley; and Buckskin & Worting.
But there is better news in Popley.
Although it still does have a high rolling rate and recorded 88 new cases in the last seven days, this number has decreased by 10.2 per cent compared to the previous week.
And the good news continues to most of the rural areas of Basingstoke and Deane.
Many of the rural areas, including East Oakley; Bramley, Sherfield & the Sherbornes; Whitchurch & Ashmansworth; Kingsclere & Heath End; Tadley East, Pamber & Silchester; and Woolton Hill, Burghclere & Bishops Green; have seen fewer cases in the week to January 11 than they did in the week before.
Across the borough, 954 new cases were confirmed in the seven days to January 11, an increase of 136, or 16.6 per cent, than the week before.
It gives it an overall rolling rate of 540.3, meaning its has the sixth highest rate among Hampshire's thirteen districts and cities, behind Rushmoor, Portsmouth, Havant, Southampton and Hart.
An interactive map on the government website shows just how many people have tested positive for the virus in each area of the county over the seven-day period up to Monday, January 11.
The interactive map allows users to type in their postcode and see how many cases were reported in their area and if it has increased or decreased from the week before. The darker the colour on the image, the more positive test results have been recorded.
The map highlights which areas of the nation have three or more confirmed cases of the virus and colour co-coordinates the areas by how many cases they have.
The latest figures reflect the week national lockdown restrictions came into force.
The map is split up into Middle Layer Super Output Areas (MSOAs), which are generally smaller than council wards and are based on population, rather than geographical area.
