Basingstoke residents were lucky to capture spectacular photos of huge icicles in hedgerows and roadside shrubs last week.
A sub-zero temperature throughout the week ensured the formation of some unusual icicles around Basingstoke.
Icicles form when the temperature of the air is just below freezing, but the temperature of a surface - like a tree or shrub - rises just above zero.
Members of Basingstoke Gazette Camera Club shared photos of how muddy puddles turn into ice sculptures just in a second after a splash.
Some photos remind us of the fantasy world described in the book The Chronicles of Narnia.
