Prime Minister Boris Johnson is set to unveil today a road map for lifting lockdown restrictions in England with a “cautious” plan that will see families reunited and children returning to schools.
The Prime Minister will hold a press conference at 7pm this evening to outline his plans after spending the afternoon addressing the Parliament.
The road map includes allowing recreation in a public space like parks from March 8. This means you can meet ONE person outside your household and sit down for a coffee, drink or picnic from the second Monday of March.
The subsequent landmark of the road map is on March 29 when outdoor gatherings of either six people or two households is allowed. This means the government will allow gatherings in private gardens from the last week of March.
From March 29, outdoor sports facilities such as tennis or basketball courts will also reopen. Organised adult and children's sport, such as grassroots football, is also expected to return by this date.
According to government sources, there will be five weeks in between each stage of lockdown easing - with four weeks to analyse the latest COVID data, and one week to give notice to businesses.
The government is aiming to offer all UK adults a COVID vaccine by the end of July.
