AS A WAY of thanking the leading women in our lives, we invited readers to share their messages of gratitude this Mother’s Day.
Many Basingstoke residents got in touch to express their thanks to their mums.
Rosalind Dutton wrote to say her mother Barbara Cole has been in isolation for a year. She said: “My lovely mum has been isolating for a year now but she has always been positive. I live in Crete and have not seen her for six months. She deserves a special mention to tell her how much I love her.”
Louise Elliott wrote: "I'm wanna wish my mum a happy mother's day and thanks for everything she does for us we are all grateful for everything u do love u so much and hope u have the best day ever love louise cara and samantha."
Becky, Michelle and Andrew wrote in to say thank you to their “one in a million mum”, Freda Skyrme.
While Paulina and Filip have expressed their gratitude to their mother, writing in The Gazette: “Thank you for everything you have done for us, for every word of encouragement and all the love you have given us.”
Nadine and Natasha have shared their message to their mum too, writing: “Happy Mother’s Day to an inspirational person. We are so grateful and fortunate to have you in our lives.”
Michelle Vokes wished "all the fabulous mothers at Ashcombe house care home a very happy Mothers day."
Kayleigh Spencer has shared this message to her mum: "This Mother’s Day I’d like to give a special shout out to my wonderful Mum, Marian Spencer. The most caring, kind, loving person, who I’m SO thankful to call my mum. Through this pandemic she has had such a hard time with my Nan going into a home & not being able to see her for nearly a year, with very little contact in between. While still supporting me through everything & being the most supportive mum to all of us. She is the backbone to our family, one in a million! We love you mum! From Kayleigh, Bradley, Hayden & Damian."
While, Tracy Dobell has written: "I would like to mention my mum Ivy Cross who is now 92. She is a strong lady and always listens to us all. She still has a great sense humour even when things are tough. She hasn't been out since last years lockdown. She lives reading her newspapers every day and the Gazette each week. So to see herself in the paper would make her day.
Here is her picture celebrating her birthday. Tracy, her youngest."
EIsa Dobell wrote this message to Tracy: "I would like to mention my mum Tracy Dobell. There’s never to days the same where we always have a giggle. We share a lot in common also remembering all the fun we have had. She is hard working and does lots for others people too."
Carla wrote this little poem for her mum:

Susan wrote: "Thank you for everything you do... I wouldn’t of got through these past couple of months without you since dad has gone. Happy Mother’s Day! I love you lots, all my love, Susan"
Natalie's message to her mum Josephine Gideon was this: "Happy Mother's day to our wonderful Mum & Nanny - You had a rough start to the year after catching covid just before Christmas and even though you are still not 100% better, continue to persevere and work hard with resilience and a get up and go attitude, We love you."
Claire wrote: "Happy Mother’s Day angie Rane Love you to the moon and back.Would also like to wish my beautiful Nan a heavenly Mother’s Day. Lots of love - Claire, Colin and Karen."
Cynthia's family sent their love to her on Mother's Day, writing: "We miss you so much and can't wait to give you a big squeeze when this is all over. Lots of love rom Phili, Hannah, Ally, Jake, Issy, Lula, Bonnie and Henry xxxx"
Message from Lorraine, Roy, Jamie, Courtney and Jordan read: "Hazel Mccarthy a wonderful mum and nanny. Thank you for all you do."
Yvonne's message to her mum read: "You are wonderful at 94 years old. Love you to bits."
Darran sent this message on behalf of his son Kie: "To mum You are the best mum I could have thanks for being you."
Lauren shared this wonderful message to her mum: "I would just like to say our beautiful mumma has been amazing to my brother and I the past year. She has looked after and cared for my grandad throughout the Coronavirus pandemic whilst working a full-time job. Thank you for being the best mummy we could ever ask for, Dadda, Harry and I will forever be thankful for you x"
Katie shared her wishes to her dear ones, writing: "Happy Mother's Day to three amazing women - my mum Helen, my nan Sylvia and my step-mum Jane."
Lesley Bridge wrote: "1939 and 2006.My dear mum, gone from us now for 14 years. Appreciative and grateful to have had just a loving, enthusiastic person as my mother and I still miss you on a daily basis."
Amy Henwood wrote: "Our mum is our family’s rock, she’s there for everyone no matter what! She always puts others before herself and takes care of everyone so we would like to wish her a happy Mother’s Day love from Sophie and Amy xxx"
