Rubbish was deliberately set on fire at the Camrose stadium this afternoon, the fire brigade has said.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service dispatched two applicances from Basingstoke to the blaze just before 2pm this afternoon.
Some rubbish inside a lorry trailer had been deliberately set on fire, a spokesperson told The Gazette.
Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed that enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.
The Gazette has previously reported how an anti-social behaviour problem has been identified at the disused Camrose stadium in recent months.
In September, police upped patrols in the area after several reports of anti-social behaviour and vandalism.
Large numbers of youths were seen congregating inside the grounds, damaging buildings and leaving behind trails of litter.
A spokesman for Basingstoke Police said very "very sad" to see the grounds in this condition, writing at the time: "It is very sad to see such an important area within the local community, that was loved by many people being vandalised and mistreated.
"Officers will continue these patrols and will deal with any offences and anti-social behaviour, if they come across it."
