A man who assaulted his girlfriend when she told him she was leaving him has been ordered to take part in community service.
Peter Cooper, of Wishmoor Road in Camberley, was driving on the M3 at Basingstoke when he burst a blood vessel in the victim’s face by slapping her with the back of his hand three times.
Prosecutor David Fossler told Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court at an earlier hearing that the victim had told Cooper that she wanted to end the relationship in September 2020 when he asked to meet her for a coffee and a drive, “to find out why the relationship was over”.
But as they were on their way back home to Surrey, Cooper became angry and started shouting at her.
Sentencing the 31-year-old on Tuesday, magistrates ordered Cooper to complete 80 hours of community service and attend 20 rehabilitation activity days.
He was further ordered to pay compensation of £100, pay costs of £25 and a victim surcharge of £95.
A teenager stole more than £1,000 of goods from a supermarket in Basingstoke, a court has heard.
Marian Claudiu Iorgu, of Billesley Lane in Birmingham, was caught taking the items, which included alcohol, outside the Morrisons store on March 17.
The total value of the stolen items was £1,140.25.
The 19-year-old was fined £120 at a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court last week.
He was further ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £30.
A 14-year-old boy has been ordered to pay compensation after he racially assaulted a person and stole a bike.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted stealing the bike in Basingstoke last August, after previously denying the theft, and pleaded guilty to the racially aggravated assault in March 2020.
He further admitted damaging a Ford KA in April, and damaging a window and front door in May.
Appearing at Basingstoke Youth Court on Tuesday, the boy was ordered to pay a total of £750 in compensation, and referred to the Hampshire Youth Offender Panel, where a rehabilitation contract will be drawn up.
A woman has been fined after she admitted damaging a police vehicle.
Tammy Anne Jackson, of Aldworth Crescent, also pleaded guilty to being threatening or abusive in Basingstoke in June 2020, as well as breaking some mugs belonging to another person.
The 45-year-old was fined a total of £160, and ordered to pay a total of £120 in compensation.
She was also ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £40 in costs.
A man from Hartley Wintney has denied drink driving.
Robert Patrick Larney, of Cricket Green, has pleaded not guilty to one count of driving whilst under the influence of alcohol.
Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court heard last week that Larney was behind the wheel of a vehicle on A30 London Road in Hook, and had 83 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
The 43-year-old’s case has been adjourned for a case management hearing on April 28.
A Chineham man has been fined after admitting being in possession of cannabis.
Sai Sherikar, of Forest Drive, was found in possession of the Class B controlled drug in Kingsclere on December 1, 2020.
He was fined £233, and also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £85.
