A TEENAGER from Kingsclere has admitted to driving while under the influence of cannabis, a court has heard.
Harry Gunter, of Garrett Close, was driving home from a party on October 17 when he was stopped by police.
Ms Edwards, prosecuting, told Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday, April 20) that the 18-year-old’s “eyes were dilated” and the smell of cannabis came from the vehicle.
In custody, a test found levels of cannabis above the legal limit in his blood.
In mitigation, Ms Ford, defending, said that Gunter, an apprentice barber, had in fact used cannabis 12 hours prior and “hadn’t appreciated that it would have remained in his system”.
She added that he had been “calm and compliant” with police, and pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.
District judge Tim Pattinson issued Gunter with a fine of £120, plus a surcharge of £34 and £85 in costs.
He will also be disqualified from driving for a year.
