FIREFIGHTERS from Basingstoke were called to a garage fire in South Ham in the early hours of this morning (April 21).
Three Basingstoke crews were mobilised just after 6am to reports of a fire on Bardwell Close.
Four sets of breathing apparatus, one jet and one hose reel were used to extinguish the blaze, which also affected a vehicle and neighbouring garage units.
A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said: "Three Basingstoke appliances were mobilised at 6:07 this morning to a garage fire on Bardwell Close.
"The garage was well alight when crews arrived and found a vehicle inside also affected.
"The fire was extinguished using four sets of breathing apparatus, one jet and one hose reel.
"Neighbouring garages suffered heat and smoke damage from the blaze.
"Police were informed of the incident prior to firefighters leaving the scene following the stop message at 7:17."
Hampshire Constabulary has been contacted for comment.
