Police are searching for the driver and passengers of a BMW who fled the scene after a car crash.
The vehicle collided with a blue Vauxhall Astra at the top of Winchester Road earlier this evening (Wednesday, April 21).
The white sports car was said to have clipped the Astra as it approached the right-hand bend where the road meets Sarum Hill.
Witnesses said the white car was "speeding" when it struck the Astra, causing it to spin around and smashing the front of the car.
The white BMW, also badly damaged, was left abandoned outside The Wheatsheaf pub as its driver and passengers were seen running off in the direction of Sarum Hill, with reports of them climbing over fences to get away.
Police are now looking for the driver of the white car, registered in 2007 with up-to-date tax and MOT.
It is thought police managed to trace one person but this has not yet been confirmed.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Astra has been taken to hospital with injuries.
The small section of Winchester Road remains closed as of 11pm tonight as police carry out their enquiries. A diversion is in place.
Hampshire Constabulary has been contacted for comment.
