POLICE have not yet found the driver and passengers of a BMW who fled the scene after a car crash on Winchester road last week.

The vehicle collided with a blue Vauxhall Astra at the top of Winchester Road last week, on Wednesday April 21 at around 10pm.

The white sports car was said to have clipped the Astra as it approached the right-hand bend where the road meets Sarum Hill.

Witnesses said the white car was "speeding" when it struck the Astra, causing it to spin around and smashing the front of the car.

The white BMW, also badly damaged, was left abandoned outside The Wheatsheaf pub as its driver and passengers were seen running off in the direction of Sarum Hill, with reports of them climbing over fences to get away.

Police are now looking for the driver of the white car, registered in 2007 with up-to-date tax and MOT.

A 23-year-old man was taken to hospital as a ‘precaution’ after the incident.

The Gazette contacted Hampshire police for an update, a spokesperson said: “There is no update at this time, enquiries are ongoing.”
