A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs from an address on Winchester Road in Basingstoke late last night (Tuesday).
The woman is aged 18 and the man 31. Both are from Basingstoke, police said.
They were taken in custody after police officers descended at Wessex Guest House on Winchester Road at 10pm on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary told the Gazette: “An 18-year-old woman from Basingstoke was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B, and a 31-year-old man from Basingstoke was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B and possession of a firearm.
“They both remain in custody at this time.”
The owner of Wessex Guest House expressed his shock at the incident, telling The Gazette: “I’m quite gobsmacked myself!”
He told the Gazette: “It seems like it was quite a serious incident by all accounts.
“I think it was a dodgy guest. We don’t know anything more than that.”
Wessex Guest House is a three-star family-run bed and breakfast, based on Winchester Road.
According to TripAdvisor, it has a 3.5 "very good" rating.
