A MAN has been fined more than £2,000 for breaking Covid-19 lockdown rules when he attended a public gathering in Basingstoke.
At a hearing at North Hampshire Magistrates’ Court on April 20, Rowan Lloyd-Smith, of Pevensey, in East Sussex, was fined £2,021 for gathering in a public outdoor place with more than two people.
Twenty-three-year-old Lloyd-Smith, who was staying in May Place earlier this year, attended the gathering in Joices Yard, at the Top of Town in Basingstoke on November 19, 2020.
At the time, the country was in a national lockdown with coronavirus restrictions preventing meeting any more than one other person from another household outside or inside.
Lloyd-Smith was fined £1,760 for breaking the rules and was asked to pay a victim surcharge of £176 plus £85 costs before May 18.
