The Conservatives have made early gains in the town centre wards.

The Tories picked picked up two of the three candidates in Brookvale and Kings Furlong - a ward that had been Labour until Jack Cousens and Mike Westbrook left to form an independent group in 2019.

There were big cheers in the election hall at the Hampshire Court Hotel as the result was announced, with a result better than the Conservatives had been hopoing for.
