IT'S a sad day for Basingstoke, as its flagship Festival Place Debenhams store marks its very last day opening.
The town centre department store was first opened here in 2002, but the company has struggled to keep up with a growing online market.
The online brand will live on, after it was bought over by fashion retailer Boohoo.
But for the much-loved department stores, its the end of the road.
Basingstoke Debenhams is the last remaining store open in the Thames Valley area, and will close its doors today (Saturday, May 15) at 5.30pm following its closing down sale which has seen it sell of most of its stock.
There are still a few hours left to grab a bargain, before saying goodbye to another high street favourite.
