- A MAN has been jailed after a string of assaults on emergency workers whilst serving a suspended prison sentence.
James Anthony Lloyd has been sent to prison for 16 weeks after he admitted the offences, which included assaulting a health care professional working at Basingstoke’s custody centre last Saturday (May 8).
He had been arrested a day earlier after being threatening or abusive towards two people in Winchester.
The 33-year-old also resisted PC Neil Parker in the execution of his duties and assaulted PC Sean Davies.
Lloyd, of Christchurch Road in Winchester, had been serving a suspended sentence at the time, after threatening or abusing two people in Winchester in December 2020.
Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court had sentenced him to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, after he was also convicted of walking towards PC Parker with a smashed glass bottle and of assaulting police officer Mohammed Hussain.
After Madden entered guilty pleas at court on Monday, Tony Madden, chair of magistrates, sentenced him to a total of 16 weeks in prison - eight weeks for the most recent charges, with the eight-week activated suspended sentence being served consecutively.
- A POPLEY man has admitted harassing a woman by following her and going to her house.
Keith Dickins, of Lundy Close, pleaded guilty to the charge at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Monday after the court was told how his behaviour of indirectly contacting her, messaging her, going to her house and following her amounted to harassment.
The 33-year-old was given a community order which will require him to attend 20 days of rehabilitation activities in the next 12 months.
A restraining order was granted, and Dickins must pay a fine of £85, a victim surcharge of £90 and costs of £85.
- A MAN from Chineham must pay more than £1,500 in compensation after admitting to a string of assaults in Basingstoke.
Andrei-Adelin Vilceanu, of Brookfield Close, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to six assaults in Basingstoke on August 15, 2020.
Appearing before Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Monday to be sentenced, the 25-year-old was given a community order which will see him take part in 15 days of rehabilitation activity and 200 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months.
He must also pay a total of £1,600 in compensation to the victims, whilst also having to pay a victim surcharge of £90 and costs of £85.
- A MAN has appeared in court after denying fleeing from the scene of a crash last year.
Marshall Clements, of Silver Street in Wrington, near Bristol, was allegedly behind the wheel of a Saab on Dummer Road in Axford when he was involved in a crash that injured another person, on May 27, 2020.
Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court has previously heard that the 63-year-old allegedly left the scene without stopping.
At an earlier hearing in November 2020, Clements pleaded not guilty to failing to stop at the scene of an accident and driving without due care and attention.
The trial will now take place on December 17 at Aldershot Magistrates’ Court, and he has been released on unconditional bail.
- A MAN has been fined after being convicted of driving without insurance.
Andrade Lima Cleuber, of Alencon Link, was behind the wheel of a Volkswagen at Rownhams on the M27 in June 2020, when he had no insurance.
After the case was proved in his absence at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court last Saturday, the 24-year-old was fined £660.
He must also pay total costs of £156.
