FIREFIGHTERS scrambled to the scene of Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital last night (May 19), to reports of a burning smell and possible fire.
Crews from Basingstoke, Tadley, Kingsclere and Hartley Wintney were called at 6:53pm after a burning smell was reported in an operating theatre.
H01P8 mobilised alongside H01P6, H01P7 and H01A1 also from @Basingstoke_01, @Tadley12, @HartleyWintney8, @Kingsclere_09, @Eastleigh32, @hiwfrs_ICU, @paulrids, @StuartBotto, @Plumbley11 and #SMJenks to reports of a fire at NHH. Smell of burning in theatre room.

However, after investigation the source of the smell was located and found to be caused by a burnt out belt in a motor.
A Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson confirmed that crews left the scene following the stop message at 8.47pm.
