PICTURES show the damage caused to an Audi after a 'suspicious' car fire in Brighton Hill yesterday.
Firefighters and police officers were called to Quilter Road, near Asda, just before 4am on Wednesday (May 19) after a Vauxhall Astra was set alight.
It caused 50 per cent damage to the Astra and also damaged a green Audi that was parked nearby.
Pictures from the scene on Thursday show scorch marks left by the burning vehicle, which as since been removed.
Damage can also be seen on the front of the Audi, which looks to have melted.
Hampshire Constabulary has now issued an appeal for witnesses in connection with the incident.
A spokesperson said: “We were called at 3.44am yesterday, 19 May, by our colleagues in the fire service to reports of a Vauxhall Astra on fire on Quilter Road. The cause of the fire is being treated as suspicious.
“Officers have conducted a number of enquiries and are now turning to the public for any information that could assist in their investigation.
“Were you in the area at the time? Perhaps you saw or heard something suspicious?
“Anyone with information is asked to phone 101 with reference 44210192944. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said: "The blaze was extinguished using two sets of breathing apparatus and one hose reel, before police were called to attend the scene.
"HIWFRS firefighters left following the stop message at 4.13am."
Police are treating the incident as suspicious.
