A MAN has been fined hundreds of pounds for driving after consuming almost double the drink-drive limit.
Reece John Edward Fry, from Novello Close in Basingstoke was behind the wheel of a Ford Fiesta on May 4, this year when police breathalysed him on Hatch Warren Way.
The court heard that the 21-year-old had 65 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath - where the legal limit is 35.
Fry pleaded guilty to the offence and was fined £419 for the offence and has been disqualified from driving for 16 months.
Disqualification from driving was obligatory for this offence, but Fry will have the opportunity to reduce the length of the ban by 16 weeks should he complete successfully an awareness course by March 30, 2022.
