A TECHNOLOGY company could be moving into a Basingstoke retail park after asking for permission to merge two outlets.
Dixons Carphone, which owns 14 brands including Carphone Warehouse, Currys and PCWorld has applied to the borough council to merge two units at St Michael’s Retails Park, in The Harrow Way, to create a 20,000 square foot store.
St Michael’s Retail Park website states that Currys/PC World is ‘coming soon’ to the shopping centre, moving into two empty units next to Wren Kitchens.
One of the units was previously occupied by Oak Furnitureland which closed down last year.
Basingstoke already has a Currys store just a few minutes’ walk away in the next-door Brighton Hill Retail Park. It is not known if this store will relocate to St Michael’s Retail Park.
The application asks to refurbish the building and install external condensing units.
If the two units were merged, the 20,000 square foot shop would the largest at St Michael’s Retail Park.
