A PARENT was fined more than £1,500 for failing to send her children to school regularly.
The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had her case heard at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Magistrates Court on May 11.
She did not attend the hearing but was found guilty in her absence for failing to send her children to school regularly.
The children, aged nine and seven, did not attend a Basingstoke junior school regularly for two weeks during 2019.
The woman, who lives in Basingstoke, was initially due to attend court in July last year, but the hearing was adjourned because of Covid-19.
She was fined £660 for each child, plus £66 victim surcharge and £150 costs, totalling £1,536.
