THE council is facing calls to redesign Black Dam roundabout following four car accidents in two days - with one victim left with life-changing injuries.

Traffic lights were out at Basingstoke’s busiest junction, which links Ringway east (A339) and south (A30) to the M3 while connecting drivers to Old Basing, when two of the accidents occurred on Monday and Tuesday. 

Now dozens of residents are asking Hampshire County Council, which is responsible for roads in the borough, to redesign the controversial roundabout. 

Resident David Goodfellow said: “It is time to rethink the design of this stupid roundabout. God knows how many crashes happen and now someone has suffered life-changing injuries.” 

Cllr Gavin James has called for an investigation.
