THREE people have been arrested in connection with a suspected shotgun discharge in South Ham on Monday (May 31).
Armed police swarmed on a house in Oakridge on Westray Close at 2pm yesterday afternoon (June 2), leaving residents concerned.
Hampshire police have now confirmed that three arrests were made in connection with the previous incident at Claythorpe Road in South Ham where a member of the public claimed they heard a shot gun being fired.
A police spokesperson told the Gazette: “Three people were arrested yesterday (Wednesday 2 June) as part of an investigation into a suspected shotgun discharge in Basingstoke.
“Officers were called at 8.39pm on Monday 31 May by a member of the public who said they had heard a shotgun being fired in Claythorpe Road area of South Ham.
“We have had no reports of injuries relating to this incident and no firearm has been recovered.
“Yesterday, officers carried out a warrant at an address in Westray Close, Oakridge, Basingstoke, as part of this investigation.
“Three people, a 17-year-old boy, a 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old man, all from Basingstoke, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
“They are currently in police custody. Officers have been carrying out house to house enquiries in the South Ham area. A cordon around a play area in Claythorpe Road has been taken down.”
A 17-year-old boy was previously arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill but was released with no further action on Monday (May 31).
