BUSKERS will entertain queuing shoppers in Basingstoke.
New ‘Busk Stops’ are being launched in the town to create an atmosphere and help shoppers pass the time while they wait in socially distanced queues to enter shops.
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council is now on the lookout for talented buskers and street performers aged over 14 to take part in the new initiative.
The performers will take to the streets every Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer to entertain passers-by.
Individuals or groups taking part can collect donations in the normal way at one of four designated Busk Stops in the town.
The council said: “As the shops and restaurants re-open around our town centre, the shopping streets in Basingstoke will be a different place as social distancing measures are implemented meaning that shoppers may have to queue to enter shops.”
It added: “This is a great opportunity for you to showcase yourself to Basingstoke residents and visitors and help create a positive vibe as we welcome people back into the town.”
