A CAR broke down on a busy Basingstoke roundabout this afternoon, reportedly causing queuing traffic.
Police were called to Black Dam roundabout at 2.15pm on Thursday afternoon (June 10) to reports of a broken down vehicle blocking the junction.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "The vehicle was travelling on the eastbound carriageway of Ringway South (A30) when it broke down at the roundabout. No injuries have been reported to us.
“The vehicle was moved and was awaiting recovery."
One motorist told the Gazette that there was a "backlog all the way up the road", citing queues of traffic travelling towards the roundabout from the town centre direction.
It comes just a week after four traffic accidents occurred at the major roundabout within a two day period, leading to calls for its layout to be rethought.
Resident David Goodfellow said: “It is time to rethink the design of this stupid roundabout. God knows how many crashes happen and now someone has suffered life-changing injuries.”
Meanwhile, Cllr Gavin James has called for an investigation.
