A FATHER who was killed in a bungalow in Basingstoke was an avid campaigner for family rights charity Fathers4Justice.
Geoffrey Hibbert, 61, and his wife Michelle Caroline Hibbert, died at their home in Buckland Avenue on Sunday morning, with police launching a double murder investigation.
The pair were named by on Tuesday afternoon, shortly before 52-year-old Stanley Collins from Sherborne St John was charged with two counts of murder.
Geoffrey made national headlines back in 2008 when he attended a Fathers4Justic protest which saw the M25 closed.
Geoffrey climbed onto a gantry on the M25 dressed as Batman and proceeded to unfurl a series of banners, MailOnline reports.
Police shut down part of the motorway near the M4 junction for nearly two hours, causing tailbacks for 15 miles.
Speaking at the time, Geoffrey told newspapers: "I cannot describe how not being able to see her makes me feel. If I had taken her away I would be in prison for kidnap but my ex-partner can do it and it's fine. Where is the justice?"
Geoffrey was a part of a group of men who were taking a stand about the different treatment fathers receive compared to mothers.
It is understood Geoffrey has four children, including a young son with his wife Michelle.
Tragically, the child has been left orphaned following the death of both his parents.
Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed it is working with Child Services to ensure the child is safeguarded and provided the support.
A spokesperson for Hampshire County Council told The Gazette: “We are unable to provide any details as, in the interests of safeguarding, this must remain confidential.”
