A CHILDREN’S play park is set to undergo a major £85,000 transformation next month.
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has announced it will begin improvement work in July to the Kennet Way play area in Oakley.
The refurbishment will include equipment for toddlers and juniors to provide a variety of play experiences, such as swings, slides, rockers and sensory equipment, as well as a ball chute, zip wire and bespoke ramp for toy cars and balls from home to be played with.
Along with the improvements to the park, the council is also revamping the wider open space to include additional seating and a goal for informal ball games.
The improvement scheme is being funded by £35,000 developer contributions, £25,000 from the Local Infrastructure Fund which is applied for by ward councillors, and £25,000 raised by the Friends of Kennet Way Park group.
