TWO GP surgeries will join Basingstoke's Covid vaccine rollout next week, with people yet to have their first dose able to get it without booking a slot.
Until now, anyone wanting to get the vaccine had to wait until their age or vulnerability category was called and to book an appointment.
As of June 10, all over 18s in North Hampshire have been able to get their first doses by booking an appointment with their GP.
But from Monday, anyone over the age of 18 in North Hampshire can turn up at one of three sites in Basingstoke, where they will be able to receive their jab without pre-booking an appointment.
Jameson House in Chineham, Gillies Health Centre in Brighton Hill and Shakespeare Road Medical Practice in Popley will all be offering walk-in appointments next week.
However, this offer is only for first doses, so anyone to have already received their first dose is not able to get their second this way.
The clinical director at Basingstoke's vaccination sites, Dr Tim Cooper, said: "As we move towards a hopeful end of restrictions in mid July its more important than ever to ensure we are vaccinated to keep us and our communities safe.
"We have a vaccine available for everyone and we want to make sure everyone has easy access to this.
"For the next week we will be coming out to our practices to offer walk in vaccinations for first covid vaccinations alongside our site at Jameson House.
"No appointment is necessary, and it is available to everyone over the age of 18 for their first covid vaccine.
"Vaccines keep all of us from becoming severely unwell and help stop us spreading COVID19 further. It’s our best shot at having a summer of fun."
Where can I get my first dose without booking an appointment?
Jameson House will be offering walk-in appointments between 9am and 5pm on Monday and Tuesday next week (July 5 and 6).
Meanwhile, Gillies Health Centre in Brighton Hill will be offering first doses on Monday between 9am-1pm and 2pm-6pm, whilst Shakespeare Road Medical Practice in Popley will be doing the same on Tuesday between 2.30pm-6.30pm.
You do not have to be registered at either site to get your jab there - both GP surgeries are open to all patients registered at a practice in the North Hampshire CCG area.
