A man who caused a crash whilst drunk has been given a suspended sentence.
Andrew Robert Mathely was behind the wheel of a Saab Vector on March 13 on Old Kempshott Lane when it was involved in a crash.
He was suspected of being drunk but when asked to supply a breath specimen, failed to do so.
Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court was also told that whilst he was being transferred between the crash scene and the police station in Viables, he damaged the inside of a police van.
Mathely, of Wiltshire Crescent, was sent to prison for 12 weeks, but the order was suspended for 18 months.
Court documents show magistrates came to this decision because of his refusal to comply, the substantial degree of impairment and the fact he caused a collision whilst being suspected to be drunk.
In the mean time, the 42-year-old must complete 15 rehabilitation activity days and 200 hours of unpaid work.
He was also ordered to pay £75 in compensation to Hampshire Constabulary, £85 in costs and a £128 victim surcharge.
Mathely was banned from driving for 32 months.
A man has been fined after he breached his restraining order.
Michael Peter Hill, of The Rockery in Farnborough, entered Cambrian Way in Buckskin on May 27, when he was banned from doing so by a restraining order imposed on December 23, 2020.
The 29-year-old was fined £224 and also ordered to take part in a three year community order.
In that time, he must complete 32 days of the building better relationships programme, as well as 15 rehabilitation activity days.
Hill was also ordered to pay £95 as a victim surcharge and £85 in costs.
A Basingstoke man has been banned from holding a drivers licence after he was caught drug driving on a partially-pedestrianised town centre street.
Charlie Smith, of Sycamore Way, Winklebury, was caught driving a BMW 118 on Winchester Street on January 21.
He was under the influence of THC, a breakdown product of cannabis.
Appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Friday, the 25-year-old was banned from driving for a year.
He was fined £230, and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £34 victim surcharge.
A Popley man has been banned from driving after he was caught drink driving whilst uninsured and without a licence.
Marcin Nozka, of Ilsley Road, was caught behind the wheel of a vehicle at Red Lion Lane on June 13 when over the drink drive limit.
He was found with 68 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - where the legal limit is 35.
He was also caught driving without a licence or insurance in the same incident.
The 22-year-old was fined £816 and banned from driving for 18 months.
He must pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £82.
A man from Tadley has been banned from driving after he was caught driving whilst drunk.
Luke John Cusick, of Giles Court, was caught behind the wheel of a Volvo XC60 on Giles Road on June 16 whilst drunk.
A breath test revealed 65 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath - over the legal limit of 35.
The 59-year-old was fined £120 and banned from driving for 18 months when appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court for sentencing last Thursday.
He must also pay costs of £40 and a £34 victim surcharge.
