A WOMAN who assaulted a pensioner outside her home in Popley has been identified, Basingstoke police have revealed.
The woman will be interviewed under caution on Thursday, July 22.
Police had issued a witness appeal last week after a 71-year-old pensioner was assaulted outside her home in Ascension Close.
The victim had suffered bruising and broken skin to her right lower leg.
The incident happened at around 8.10pm on Sunday, June 27.
The image shared with the witness appeal had shown a woman with dark hair, wearing what looks like a black dress and no shoes.
According to police, the victim went outside to see what was going on when she was assaulted.
A spokesperson continued: "She was assaulted and damage was caused to her garden wall and front door.”
In an updated statement, police said the woman has now been identified.
“Thanks for sharing the appeal because we can today confirm we have successfully identified the woman in the image.
“She will be interviewed under caution on Thursday, July 22.”
Police have also asked people to contact if they have any further information about the assault.
“If you have any further information you can call 101 quoting 44210253186 or alternatively, go online and submit information at www.hampshire.police.uk.
