POLICE are looking for witnesses after a woman was assaulted in the Buckskin area at the weekend.
The woman, in her 20s, was walking along in the area between 11.20pm on Saturday and 12.45am on Sunday when police say she was stuck in the face by a man wearing a hooded top.
She suffered an injury to her face, but did not require hospital treatment.
The man ran off when a man on a scooter was riding past.
Hampshire Constabulary says that the victim does not recall the exact location of the incident, and are now asking anyone who may have seen the incident to come forward.
A police spokesperson said: "We are making enquiries to establish the circumstances of this incident, including where it took place.
"However, we would like to hear from anyone who was in this area on that night, and remembers seeing a woman being assaulted.
"We would also like to hear from the man riding the scooter – he may hold information that might be important to our enquiries.
"Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting the reference number 44210294267.
