A NEW defibrillator has been installed at a Basingstoke community centre.
Last week a long-standing community project resulted in the device being unveiled at Rucstall Community Centre on Holbein Close.
A defibrillator is a portable electronic device used to restore normal heartbeat in resuscitation cases.
The project, initiated by Rucstall Primary School, brought together community groups from across Black Dam including Grove Generations, Rucstall Community Centre, and ward councillors Cllr Ron Hussey and Cllr Gavin James.
Ruth Griffiths, headteacher at the school, said: "This installation provides a much-needed emergency health resource to the Black Dam community.
"Thanks go to Grove Generations for their organisation and to the Community Centre and councillors for their financial contributions to bring this project to fruition. Another great example of the Rucstall and Black Dam community working together!"
