A man has been fined £1,760 for failing to wear a face covering in Lidl.
Jack Todd entered the Southampton store, based on the high street, without wearing a mask on January 30, at the height of the second wave.
The 29-year-old, of Copley Close, Ealing, entered and remained at the store without wearing a face covering contrary to regulations of the Health Protection Act 2020.
At wearing at North Hampshire Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, July 20, the Londoner was fined £1,760. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £176 and to pay court costs of £85.
The public are no longer required to wear a face covering in any setting after the government lifted remaining coronavirus restrictions on July 19, 2021.
However, many supermarkets are continuing to ask customers to wear them unless they are medically exempt.
