A SELF-CONFESSED attention seeker from Basingstoke will appear on Channel 4’s Come Dine With Me today hosting a dinner party he describes as an “absolute stinker”.
This week, Come Dine With Me is featuring five contestants from Basingstoke, who are all competing against each other to win a £1,000 cash prize.
Deviating from the usual format which sees contestants welcome each other into their own homes for a dinner party over the course of the week, instead the group all hosted in the same location, at someone else’s house in Ecchinswell, near Kingsclere.
Father-of-one Adam Aimable, from Rooksdown, admitted that he wanted to appear on the programme because he enjoys attention.
Speaking to the Gazette ahead of his dinner party being broadcast today, he said: “Tonight is the one to watch. My night is an absolute stinker, it’s bad.”
The 33-year-old said he applied for Come Dine With Me by chance after coming across an advert to apply after breaking down and waiting for recovery.
He said: “I thought I’m going to have a go at this. I thought it would be fun and be good to get on TV. I have hosted dinner parties before but never taken myself out of my comfort zone and it’s a programme I watch so I thought I would go for it. I also like attention and wanted to be on TV.”
Adam, who launched his own business ABA Transport and Removals Limited this year, said he enjoyed the whole experience, and said the group of contestants have all kept in touch.
“It’s such a good experience and to see it from the other side. We are all friends now we have been out for drinks since the show,” he said.
However, Adam said his own dinner party was somewhat of a disaster, after he decided to cook authentic Mexican food.
He said: “I chose something I didn’t think anyone would eat. I wanted to pick something they couldn’t judge me on but it backfired because I chose something I had never cooked before and using an aga. I was that arrogant.”
The dad said his approach was “tongue in cheek” explaining: “I talk about authentic Mexican but I have been once to Mexico and stayed in a five-star resort. I have no idea what authentic Mexican is.
"My whole tactic was to cook something they haven’t eaten so if they didn’t like it, I could say it’s Mexican cuisine they don’t like, not my cooking. My other tactic was to flirt and give them alcohol, but that also backfired because Covid rules meant we weren’t allowed lots of alcohol.”
Despite his dinner party disaster, Adam said he loved taking part in the programme, adding: “It was a phenomenal experience I’m so pleased I went on there and did it. I would love to go on another show and have been looking and hopefully it isn’t the last time I’m on TV. I just love it and love all the attention that comes with it.”
