A NORTH Warnborough man will face a jury after he allegedly attempted to murder a man by strangling him and firing a crossbow.

Dane Perry, of King Johns Road, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon after police were called to the road on March 28.

Perry has since been remanded in custody and a psychiatric examination was carried out to determine whether he was fit to stand trial.

Today (Friday), the Recorder of Winchester, Judge Angela Morris, heard from defence barrister Daniel Murray. Mr Murray said: “He is fit to plead, he is fit to stand trial.”

The judge listed the case for a trial to take place on October 4 at Winchester Crown Court, which is expected to last five days.

The 37-year-old was charged after officers were called to King Johns Road just after 5pm to reports of a 55-year-old man having a crossbow fired at him and also reported being strangled. He received minor injuries.
