A MAN who sexually assaulted a woman after trespassing at Basingstoke railway station has been spared jail and walked away with a £346 fine.
In contrast, a man at the same court on the same day was fined more than £2,000 after pretending he was sent the wrong Playstation and for harassment.
Thomas David Harris, of Don Allen Drive, intentionally sexually touched the female when she did not consent contrary to section 3 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
At hearing at North Hampshire Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 13, Harris was ordered to complete an accredited sex offender programme for 36 days carry out 140 hours of unpaid work within the next twelve months.
The defendant was also placed on the sexual offenders register for five years and fined £346.
In a separate case dealt with by magistrates the same day, a defendant was fined £2,500 for fraud and harassment.
