A LICENSING application for Five Guys has been submitted to the borough council.
The American burger chain is taking over an empty unit in Festival Place which was previously occupied by Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK) which closed earlier this month.
The windows of the unit have been covered in black paper preventing people seeing inside while the refit is carried out.
Five Guys has posted job vacancies for its new Basingstoke branch, which is set to open later this year.
Famed for its fresh approach to fast food, the chain cooks all its food to order, including its popular fries cooked in peanut oil.
It offers burgers and hot dogs with as many free toppings as you want, as well as milkshakes with mix-ins such as bacon.
Its application submitted to the council states its opening hours will be Sundays to Wednesdays 8am to 11.30pm and Thursdays to Saturdays from 8am to 12.30am.
It has asked for permission to exhibit films and play recorded music during its opening hours and sell alcohol for consumption on and off the premises.
