A MAN has denied the double murder of a Basingstoke couple.
Stanley Elliott, of Kiln Road, Sherborne St John, was charged with the killing of Geoffrey and Michelle Hibbert in Buckland Avenue in the early hours of Father's Day, June 20.
The pair were found with serious injuries outside their South Ham bungalow after police were called to reports of a concern for welfare at around 2am on June 20.
They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Today (Friday, October 22) the 52-year-old appeared at Winchester Crown Court and spoke only to plead not guilty to the two counts of murder.
The case was previously adjourned in August while a psychological and a psychiatric report was prepared.
However, Mr Harris, defending, confirmed there was no reason for Mr Elliott not to enter pleas.
Mr Elliott will stand trial at the same court on January 31.
He has been remanded in custody.
