• A BASINGSTOKE man will stand trial this month accused of causing serious injury to another man by dangerous driving while intoxicated.

James Ian Christopher, of Pear Tree Way, allegedly drove a Vauxhall Astra down Oakridge Road on February 28, while over the legal drug limit.

He is also accused of driving dangerously and causing injury to Luke Briggs.

The 35-year-old appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on October 26, where the case was sent for trial.

He has been released on conditional bail and will stand trial by jury on November 24 at Winchester Crown Court.

  • A POPLEY man accused of stealing more than £140 worth of meat from a shop in Chineham has had his case discontinued.

Brian McCauley, of Dryden Close, was charged with one count of theft after allegedly stealing £141.20 from Marks and Spencers in March 2020.

However, the 31-year-old’s case was discontinued after the warrant allocated to police was withdrawn.

  • A BASINGSTOKE woman has appeared in court after breaching a community order imposed on her last year.

Rosie Ella Edenbrow, of Trinity Way, was found guilty of two counts of failing to meet the order’s requirements on October 26, despite denying the allegations in September.

The 20-year-old was therefore dealt with for her original offences, with the order made on September 7 last year revoked.

On February 2, 2020, she assaulted two woman by beating them at Fever nightclub on Winchester Street. and was also found to be in possession of cannabis.

Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court put a new community order in place, which requires Edenbrow to complete 15 rehabilitation days over the coming year.

She was also fined £184.

  • A BASINGSTOKE man has admitted to harassing a police officer in the town last year.

Marc Lawrence Roby Bone appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on October 26 accused of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour towards PC Tudge on Alencon Link on July 4 2020.

The 33-year-old, of Melrose Walk, was ordered to pay £120 in compensation and £25 in costs.

  • A BASINGSTOKE man has admitted to criminal damage involving the smashing of several windows in the town earlier this year.

James Andrew Bowen, of Vyne Road, pleaded guilty to damaging a window at a Tesco store on July 14 2021, as well as damaging the window belonging to another man on July 5.

In addition, he admitted to damaging windows at White House Insurance, Wallis Prance Solicitors, and Willows Coffee House on August 31, as well as destroying a holding cell at Basingstoke police station on the same date.

He has been remanded on bail ahead of sentencing on November 24.

The 29-year-old is also accused of assaulting a woman by beating her on July 9, to which he has pleaded not guilty.

This charge will also be dealt with when he returns to Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court later this month.

  • A WOMAN from Bramley has been handed a community order and fine after jointly stealing more than £1,500 worth of items from TKMaxx in Swindon, Wiltshire.

Deborah Bennet, of Coopers Court, pleaded guilty to the theft of clothing and perfume, alongside Lisa Farmer, to the value of £1513.60.

Appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on October 27, the 53-year-old was given a community order requiring her to complete a maximum of 14 days of rehabilitation activity over the coming year.

She must also pay a fine of £34, as well as a £95 surcharge and costs of £85.
