A SCHOOL in Basingstoke has been bust supporting those less fortunate this festive season on the run-up to Christmas.
Students and teachers from Cranbourne school brought in food items for the Basingstoke Foodbank and donated a grand total of 207.1kg of food.
A spokesperson from Cranbourne school, said: “Our students did amazingly, bringing in all sorts of goodies to donate.”
The food donations will go towards helping local people across Basingstoke who are in crisis.
On top of this one of the parents made a kind donation of Christmas food parcels, which will be delivered to the families who need them this Christmas.
Students also enjoyed a very festive Christmas dinner, with a delicious main course, a yule log for dessert, and a Christmas cracker.
The students enjoyed the lunch around an amazingly decorated Christmas tree, which was kindly donated to the school by Waitrose.
Lastly, both staff and students enjoyed taking part in a festive non-school uniform day with many wearing Christmas jumpers.
Head of music, Mr Magor’s choir also performed in the canteen and around the school with Christmas tunes for everyone to enjoy. Students donated £1 for the ‘privilege’ of wearing non-uniform and all donations went to Save the Children UK.
In England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, the charity work to narrow the gap between children in poverty and better-off classmates.
