TWO PEOPLE have sustained serious injuries after a major collision on M3 near Basingstoke this morning (Friday, December 24).
The collision happened between Junction 6 (Basingstoke/A339) and Junction 7 (Dummer/A30) at 1.08am when a silver Ford Grand C-Max travelling south on the motorway left the carriageway to the nearside.
Both the driver and the passenger sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital where they remain at this time, police have confirmed.
All three lanes of the southbound carriageway of the M3 were shut soon after the accident.
The carriageway reopened shortly after 7am.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to gather more information about the incident.
