TWO young inspiring scouts from Basingstoke have been praised by celebrity survival expert Bear Grylls as they celebrate international success.
Toby Howard from the 1st Chineham Scout Group is one of the 3,240 young people to be selected to join 50,000 people taking part in the World Scout Jamboree.
The Jamboree is a skill, cultural, and adventure festival set to take place in South Korea, in the summer of 2023 from August 1 to 12.

During his time there Toby will be meeting thousands of Scouts from nearly every country in the world where he will share his knowledge and skills with others.
TV star Bear Grylls was appointed the youngest-ever Chief Scout of the United Kingdom and Overseas Territories at aged 35, a post he has held for a second term since 2015.
He said: ‘Congratulations to Toby and all those who have been selected to go on this amazing adventure! World Scout Jamborees only happen every four years and tens of thousands of Scouts from across the world attend each one.
“Young people will experience different cultures, languages and cuisine while learning new skills. After two very difficult years, it is so important that these young people have this opportunity. ‘The 2023 Jamboree, hosted by Korea, is set to be one of the biggest and most exciting yet. The theme is “Think big. Dream wild. Act together' focusing especially on how we can be trailblazers in creating a sustainable world together.”
Tallulah Howard, who is also from the same scout group, will be travelling across Europe as part of an exciting expedition.
Although the details of this expedition are still being finalised, the unit is expected to stay amongst scouts across at least three European countries using their facilities and sites and is likely to be called Project 23.

Both events will offer young people the chance to learn new skills to use in other aspects of their life as well as campaign for change on key world issues that matter to them.
The young scouts were selected during an application process where they were praised for understanding and demonstrating key scout values including helping and thinking of others, being honest and trustworthy, respect and self-respect care, and belief.
In preparation for the World Scout Jamboree young scouts have adopted a logo featuring a Siberian tiger, the national animal of Korea. The tiger has been named the tiger ‘Chingu’ a word that means friend in Korean.
Between now and July 2023 Toby and Tallulah will both attend training camps and team building events preparing them for their adventures.
