THE family of a man who died following an incident in Basingstoke have paid tribute to him and his smile that “brightened” the room.

Police were called around 10.45pm on Wednesday, January 19 and found 22-year-old Troy Harkness with a serious injury in Abbey Road, near the junction with Popley Way.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His family are being supported and have today paid tribute to him.

They said: “Our son was full of life and he always brightened the room with his smile.”

Jordan Graham Clarke, 25, of no fixed abode, has been charged with his murder.

He appeared by video link at Winchester Crown Court yesterday morning (Tuesday, January 25), wearing a yellow and green jacket and represented by Richard Martin.

Representing the prosecution was Kerry Maylin.

The case has been adjourned for a pre-trial plea hearing on Tuesday, April 19 at the same court, and a provision three-week trial has been scheduled to begin on July 18.

Mr Clarke will be remanded in custody.

Two other men, both 19-years-old and from Basingstoke, were arrested on suspicion of robbery as part of the enquiries but have since been bailed.
