PERMANENT repair work has been carried out on a road after a resident became increasingly concerned about its dangerous condition.
Stacy Cole from Axford, raised concerns about Duxford Lane in November 2021, which runs between Axford and Dummer, with the current road crumbling at either side near Poasley Farm.
She said the road was like a “death trap” with the sides of the road crumbling, which was also causing flooding.

Hampshire County Council said the issues had been “caused by vehicles running off the edge of the carriageway, where the road narrows, and damaging the verges and drainage measures”.
Stacy called on Hampshire County Council to fill the hole and to repair the crumbling road to make it a safe road for drivers.
Since then, Stacy said that Hampshire County Council undertook planned work from Monday, January 17 to Thursday, January 20. The pothole that was causing damage to cars has been filled in and there are now drainage ditches on the side of the road to help with the flooding.
A drainage ditch is a depression in the land that is usually created to channel water.
She said: “Everybody knows to slow down now because you can see the bollards, so you know the ditch is there and also the pothole has been filled in.
"The road is a lot safer now and I am so pleased because it was just scary how many cars were getting stuck or getting punctures.
“Hopefully it means happy drivers now, but we will see the real test will be when we get another pour down of rain but hopefully the road won't flood.”
Stacy had previously noticed that cones had been put around the holes and sand had been “chucked” around to cover one of the holes.

She added: “There have been so many near misses and then last year it was just terrible. People just misjudge it and then they get punctures and everything.”
On December 11, 2021 the condition of the road reportedly led to seven cars sustaining tyre punctures.
