A BEREAVEMENT charity is organising a special walk after noticing an increase in demand for support since the Covid-19 pandemic started.

Cruse Basingstoke are organising the five-mile trek, which will take place on Wednesday, March 20, and volunteers, supporters, and the public are encouraged to join the walk.

Colin Godfrey, chair of Cruse Basingstoke, said: “We are really excited to be organising this special walk. We’ve been supporting bereaved children, young people and adults in Basingstoke for 30 years and know how important it is that people grieving get specialist support, as soon as they need it.

“Since the pandemic we’ve seen a steady increase in client referrals and have helped over 150 bereaved people in 2021. We are always looking for new volunteers to undertake Cruse training which can be an incredibly rewarding experience.”

Those who take part will be meeting at The Café In The Park, Broadmere Road, Beggarwood and they will be setting off from 9.30am.

Cruse Basingstoke is a local branch of the national charity Cruse Bereavement Support. Services are delivered by a network of bereavement volunteers who give their own time to support others through one of the most painful times in life.
