One of the readers wrote: “[I will choose] Top O' The Morning in Hackney - lovely place right by Victoria Park and beside the canal. On Friday evenings they used to bring round free plates of sandwiches too.”
Another reader wrote: “Leaving aside the thorny philosophical problem of how to have a drink in a pub that no longer exists (‘I drink, therefore I am’), I'd say The George or Magnum's.”
There were also some readers who wrote the nature of the pubs have got better over the years.
One reader wrote: “[I will choose] None, they were always smelling of cigarette smoke and the floors were disgusting. One of the only good things about modern life is that pubs are for eating in too and are nice and clean.”
