A DISABILITY awareness day will be hosted by a Basingstoke group in April to answer residents’ questions about disability.
The Basingstoke and District Disability Forum (BDDF) is hosting the free event on Friday, April 1.
It will open to the public from 8am to 4pm in Castle Square, The Malls Shopping Centre, Basingstoke.
With over 20 local organisations providing services for Disabled people, BDDF said it will be able to answer questions on a wide range of topics including benefits, transport, health, housing, education and sports.
The event is supported by The Mall's management team and funded by Hampshire County Council.
For further information, visit www.bddf.org.uk; or email info@bddf.org.uk or telephone 01256 423869.
The Basingstoke and District Disability Forum (BDDF) was formed in 2007 by a group of residents living with disabilities with the aim of supporting the community, giving them a voice and addressing the stigma.
At the last census (2011), one in five people identified as having a disability, and there was no clear organisation representing them. There was a gap in the accessibility of services available as well as a lack of inclusion or opportunities for less-abled people.
