US film star Alec Baldwin has made quite a stir as he was spotted several times in a small Hampshire town over the past week.
The Hollywood actor, who has played roles in Along Came Polly, It's Complicated and To Rome With Love, first sparked gossip when he posted a video on Instagram of him walking along an Alton street during the weekend.
Residents quickly took to social media after a number of shops were recognised, including The Red Lion Pub, Aplan Insurance, Holybourne Flooring, and the Curtis Museum, as he took a stroll along Normandy Street telling a funny story to his 2.4 million followers about how his driver had his car stolen as he arrived to Heathrow Airport.
The 63-year-old dined at Mifta's Indian Restaurant in the Market Square on Sunday, February 6 while in the company of former colleague and BBC journalist Martin Bashir.
The actor had dined there twice during his stay in Alton, having eaten alone on Friday night. Mifta Chowdhury, the owner of Mifta’s, told the Farnham Herald: "I didn’t recognise him because I haven’t seen any of his films."
According to the Herald, the actor ordered a chicken jalfrezi, Bombay aloo, chana masala, three chapattis, pilau rice and two bottles of still water.
Mr Baldwin stayed at the Alton House Hotel, where double rooms can cost up to £95 per night, while he was filming a drama called 97 Minutes, which is about a hijacked plane that has just 97 minutes worth of fuel remaining before it will crash.
The thriller is Alec's first acting role since a prop gun he was holding went off on the set of western Rust in October, killing 42-year old cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
While in Alton, Alec was also spotted walking past the local kebab shop.
Murat Mencoglu, the owner of kebab shop Murat's Kebab House, told the Daily Mail: "Who would ever expect to see something like that in Alton?"
Other residents commented on his dishevelled appearance.
One resident, Caroline Benham, told The Times she had seen the star looking like a 'hobo' in the Co-op supermarket.
While in town, Alec filmed a series of videos which he posted to his social media.
In one he spoke about the teenagers in Alton.
He said: "I see I'm walking down this little street in this little town and I see little kids and some teenage boys. This is their home. Trying to have fun, stay out of trouble, get into trouble. I just am always touched because it's the same everywhere."
Alton House Hotel said they could not comment on the visit.
It is believed he checked out and left town on Tuesday.
