A BASINGSTOKE man has been fined more than £800 after he failed to self-isolate after coming back from Ghana during the height of the pandemic.
On April 29, last year, Nicholas Frimpong was away from the place where he was self-isolating in Surrey and went to Aldershot, in breach of travel quarantine requirements.
The 43-year-old, of St Cross Road, changed his plea during a magistrates court hearing last month and admitted the offence.
Magistrates fined him £837, he must also pay an £84 victim surcharge and £79 court costs.
MAGISTRATES have disqualified a Basingstoke man from driving after he was caught over the drink drive limit.
Daniel Elsden, of Highpath Way, was stopped on Rooksdown Lane, on January 14, this year, where it was found he had 48 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – the legal limit is 35.
The 27-year-old admitted the offence and was banned from driving for 12 months.
He was also fined £140 and must pay £85 court costs, along with a £34 victim surcharge.
A MAN who was caught over the drink drive limit has been banned from getting behind the wheel.
David Maunders, of Merryweather Way, Basingstoke, was stopped in Mount Pleasant, Tadley, on January 14 while driving a Ford Focus.
A breath test revealed he had 73 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – the legal limit is 35.
During a magistrates court hearing the 38-year-old admitted to the offence. Magistrates disqualified Maunders for 18 months and handed him a £400 fine.
He must also pay £85 court costs and a £40 victim surcharge.
A BASINGSTOKE man who assaulted two people will be sentenced next month.
Vanien Fowler, of Deeside Place, admitted attacking Alex Somerset Dalwood and Sara Louisa Spreadbury in the town on July 18, last year.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of assault by beating during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on February 1.
The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and the 33-year-old will appear at the same court on March 16.
A WARRANT has been issued for the arrest of a man who allegedly was caught in possession of cocaine.
Luke Mulcahy, 30 and of Pinkerton Road, is accused of having the class A drug on December 10, last year.
Magistrates in Basingstoke have now issued a warrant for his arrest.
MAGISTRATES have given a Basingstoke man more time to pay a fine imposed in 2017.
Kevin Graham, 49 and of Nut Hatch Close, was fined £2,577.48 in March 2017 and he has not paid any of it off.
Now magistrates have ordered him to pay £100 a month starting from March 1.
A SUSPECTED careless driver will enter pleas to four offences in relation to his alleged driving in Hook.
Luke Welham, 22 and from Kent, is accused of two counts of driving a Peugeot 207 in Fleet Road when the offside and nearside front wheels were fitted with a pneumatic tyre which had the ply or cord exposed.
On the same day he is also alleged to have driven without due care and attention and failed to provide a specimen for analysis.
He will appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on February 22 when he is due to enter pleas to the charges.
A BASINGSTOKE man has been told to undergo rehabilitation after stealing from a shop.
Andrew Buller, 50 and of May Place, admitted to stealing a Philips electric razor worth £109.99 from Superdrug in the town on August 8, last year.
Magistrates handed him a drug rehabilitation requirement in which he must provide samples for nine months. He must also undergo 20 days of rehabilitation and pay £109.99 compensation.
