RESIDENTS are invited to join the Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane for a spectacular one-off evening performance of entertainment.

Join Cllr Onnalee Cubitt in her charity show called Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance.

The production, which will take place on Saturday, March 5 from 7.30pm at The Anvil, will be performed by Basingstoke Amateur Operatic Society in celebration of their centenary year.

Cllr Onnalee Cubitt said: “I am looking forward to a wonderful evening and hope to welcome as many residents as possible to watch this fantastic performance.

"It will be a great opportunity to support the borough’s arts community and celebrate the talented Basingstoke Amateur Operatic Society’s hundredth year.

"With proceeds going to my Charity Appeal, you will also be supporting two wonderful local charities.”

Featuring much-loved songs such as A Policeman’s Lot is Not a Happy One, I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General and Poor Wandering One, the semi-staged production follows the hilariously incompetent pirates, a major-general promoted way above his abilities and his bevy of beautiful daughters.
