BASINGSTOKE businesses have teamed up to provide family activities throughout next week as part of the February half-term.

Love Basingstoke, with the help of local businesses, is offering arts and crafts, a family disco and mindfulness storytelling sessions among many other activities as part of the half term break.

On Monday, February 21, families can head to Willows Coffee House in Church Street between 11am and 3pm to create your own wildflower seed bombs to brighten up your garden just in time for spring.

And families can carry on crafting at children’s candle making workshops throughout the day with local artist Laura Fisher at Gabardine Bar in London Street.

On Tuesday, February 22, families can get creative with local artist Rachel Davis and upcycle colourful tin can plant pots ready to fill with bulbs and seeds at Willows Coffee House between 11am and 3pm.

Parents are invited to unleash their child’s inner scientist with the chance to create solar system fingerprint bookmarks and pipe cleaner constellations with Stemmed Zine at The Dice Tower in London Street on Wednesday, February 23, 11am to 3pm.

There is also another chance to create candles during workshops with Laura Fisher at Gabardine Bar at 11.30am to 12.30pm, 1pm to 2pm and 2.30pm to 3.30pm. Places are limited so please email towncentre@basingstoke.gov.uk to secure your place.

On Thursday, February 24, there is a chance to have a go at playing a new musical instrument at Anvil Arts’ Musication Station at The Tea Bar in London Street between 11am and 3pm and there will be a chance to burn some energy at a family silent disco and free face painting between 11am and 3pm at the Royal Exchange also in London Street.

On the same day, Basingstoke will also see a Godzilla wandering the streets of the Top of the Town between 11am and 1pm and 2pm and 4pm.

Families can join Junk Jodie with mindfulness storytelling sessions at Gabardine Bar between 11am and 3pm on Friday, February 25, and get involved with the Basingstoke brick build – a series of timed activities using LEGO bricks between 11am and 3pm at the Top of the Town.

On Saturday, February 26, enjoy Musical Ruth – a unique mobile piano driven around by Sister Ruth, a nun singing renditions of all your favourite songs in Market Place with showings at 11am, 12noon and 2pm.

Acting Leader of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council Cllr Simon Bound said: “I am pleased that we have been able to work closely with local businesses and venues in the town centre to host this fantastic range of free family fun this February half term.

“There really is something for everyone, from arts and crafts, storytelling, learning a new skill and even a silent disco so don’t miss out. As well as keeping children entertained, there is also plenty of opportunities to support local businesses while you are there.”
